You can (and very often will) have multiple instances of combat in the same system. There are some changes to the gameplay, such as the different missile types and supplies system adding another layer of management. And although they copied the mantismen basically 1:1 the ship designs, other aliens and backgrounds are pretty cool. It might be a clone but they did their best to make their own universe interesting. It imitates in the important ways yet changes the formula enough to no longer feel as balanced.Īt this point I'm only a handful of hours in but I can tell there's some real talent, attention and affection put into the game. So does this game iterate? Or is it just an imitation?įTL is in my Top 3 Games I've Ever Played personally so I hope there's some credibility when I say Trigun is FTL: Awkward Edition. Taking another game's mechanics and iterating or adding a new twist is the basis for thousands of games. Same subsystems, system hazards, similar racial archetypes, same gameplay. Mechanics-wise this is a COPY and is 90% the same. Now what you might not understand yet is they aren't kidding. If you've read other reviews, you'll see a lot of comparisons to FTL and that this is an "FTL Clone".
